Trade shows are not necessarily annoying. The issue is that so many exhibitors get hung up in the showmanship of the event and forget the marketing part. It's important for participants to remember that folks walking around don't necessarily know who they are or what they do. Just displaying their name doesn't really help. One of the simplest things they can do is to make that ice-breaking question simple and easy for the attendee. While the booth must be interesting an eye-catching to attract attention, it also should communicate what the company does and what they have to do with the overall category of the show.

While you can't replace the value of a face-to-face meeting, what I liked about this particular virtual event was that it made the ice-breaker very easy to do. ...and saved me from the usual sore feet!

You were right, Rena, I loved it. It is a very interesting concept that made me think of other possibilities while I was reading your post. I am so occupied with work, that I missed this virtual event.

I suppose that regular trade shows get annoying because of the approach that the vendors are taking (i.e. trying so hard to push / to make a sale), or is it the change in the consumer shopping behavior?
